Dear Me Digital Studio makes planner apps that are sold in our Etsy shop, DearMeDigitalStudio. We keep only what the apps need to work: no accounts, no ads, and no tracking inside the apps.
What we store
- Your Etsy order number, which of our apps it unlocks and whether the order is active or refunded. The order number is your key to the app.
- Your devices. Each browser or installed app gets a random ID, a label such as “iPhone · Safari”, and the dates it was added and last used. We use this for the device limit and so you can manage your devices in Settings. A device not used for 30 days is removed when a new one needs its place.
- What you write and add in the app, such as tasks, notes, goals and photos. It is saved on your device first and copied to our server so it shows up on your other devices. Photos are compressed before upload.
- Free trials. If you open a free trial link, we keep a one-way hash of your device ID, which link you used and when your trial starts and ends, so each device gets one trial. What you make during the trial stays on your device until you unlock the app with an order.
- Our move to a new web address. When you open an app at our old address, what it saved on your device (the same things as above) is held on our server for up to an hour, so the app at our new address can pick it up. It is deleted as soon as it is picked up.
- Your IP address, briefly. We count failed order-number attempts and new free trials per IP address to stop guessing and abuse. These counters are deleted within a day or two. Our hosting provider may also keep standard server logs.
What we don't store
- Your name, address, email or payment details. You pay on Etsy, and Etsy keeps that information.
- Passwords or Etsy login details. You never sign in to Etsy through us.
- Advertising cookies. We don't use any. The apps set no analytics cookies either, only one functional cookie,
dearme_did, that remembers this device's random ID.
Analytics on our website
On our public website (the home page and the planner pages, not the apps) we use Google Analytics to see how people find us and which pages they visit, only if you accept in the cookie banner. It then sets the _ga cookies and records the pages you view, the links you click (such as “Get it on Etsy”), the site that sent you and your general location and device type. Google processes this for us and it is kept for 14 months. Advertising features are off. You can change your choice any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
How we check your order
When you enter an order number, we may look it up in our own shop through the Etsy API to confirm that it exists, includes the app and hasn't been refunded. We only read orders from our own shop. From that lookup we keep the order number, the apps and the status. Your name and other details stay on Etsy. If the automatic check isn't available, we confirm the order by hand in our Etsy shop.
On your device
The app keeps your data in your browser's storage so it works offline. Signing out in the app's Settings removes it from that device. Your synced copy stays on our server so you can sign in again.
Who else handles your data
- Netlify hosts the website and stores the synced data and photos.
- Etsy processes your purchase and answers our order checks.
- Google runs Google Analytics on our website if you accept it (see above).
We never sell your data or share it with anyone else, and we only look at it if you ask us for help or to keep the service working.
How long we keep it
We keep your synced data for as long as your order can use the app, so it is there on your devices every year. If an order is refunded, it loses access. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
Your choices
- Download all your data any time: Settings → Export backup.
- Remove a device: Settings → Devices.
- Delete your synced data and photos: email us your order number at dearmedigitalstudio@gmail.com and we'll delete it.
Children
Our apps are not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
